Adrianna Papell Pamper Morning

On 12 February, we took a capsule collection of Adrianna Papell dresses to the divine Cowshed Spa in Soho and invited a selection of key editors to come and join us for a morning of pampering.  As a pre fashion week indulgence, we hope everyone left a little bit more rested and relaxed in preparation for the AW16 shows.  We presented a selection of new season dresses including some show stopping red carpet frocks and the new bridal collection.  If only every Friday could start like this!

ITV East visits Tricker’s Northampton Factory

We had a great time accompanying a film crew from ITV East around the Tricker’s factory in Northampton.  They were filming a piece on traditional British businesses (based in the East) which are staying successful despite many of their contemporaries collapsing.  It was interesting to learn that there are 250 operations that go into making a pair of Tricker’s boots and they all take place at the Northampton site.  In its hay day Northampton was home to 175 shoe makers today only 5 are left.

Scott Mckee is one of only 3 artisans left in Northampton who still hand makes shoes from scratch (all 3 work at Tricker’s), he demonstrated stitching a sole on to a boot and we saw hundreds of wooden lasts (the models for made-to-order shoes).

Look out for the piece on ITV East’s evening news feature at 6pm coming soon.

Berlin Fashion Week AW16

This week the team braved the cold and headed to Berlin for Dorothee Schumacher’s A/W 2016 show. Always a headline of Berlin Fashion Week, Dorothee’s latest collection was inspired by global traveller Thea Porter who brought opulent Middle Eastern fashion to London in the 1960s.

Dorothee says: “When everything is in motion, traditions are a gift, a feeling of secure familiarity which can be taken on travels. They provide security for insatiable curiosity and adventurous passion. And then styles blend, discover one another, find an entirely new common language – global patchwork!”

SCPR at the Rugby World Cup

As part of its formalwear sponsorship of the England Rugby team, our client, French menswear fashion label Eden Park provided us with tickets to invite press to various Rugby World Games.  We were lucky enough to see France v Romania at the Olympic stadium on 23 September.  France triumphed 38-11 and we spent a wonderful evening shouting ‘Aller les bleus’! amongst the other French supporters.

Kinky Boots!

British shoe brand Tricker’s factory in Northampton was the setting for the popular 2005 movie Kinky Boots and the cast of the new stage musical, which recently opened on The Strand, were invited to the factory to meet the team and get an insight into the creation of hand made shoes.

In return they were all invited back to a preview of the musical and we were lucky enough to tag along.  Without doubt it was one of the best musicals any of us had ever seen.  After the performance we stayed behind for a big group shot of the company and Tricker’s staff.  The night was made even more special when the director Jerry Mitchell and the legendary Cyndi Lauper (who wrote the score) appeared and joined in.  For the first time ever Team SCPR were star struck and sang True Colours all the way home.

LOVE YOUR CLOTHES EVENT

On 27th November, SCPR hosted a Fashion Salvage event on behalf of WRAP (the Waste & Resources Action Programme) for its Love Your Clothes (LYC) campaign. The aim was to raise awareness of the value of clothes and to shine a spotlight on the amount of good clothes hiding at the back of our wardrobes.

To promote the event and the LYC campaign, we secured interview time for WRAP’s Textile Communications Manager Ali Moore on London Live’s Breakfast Show yesterday morning.

Fashion Salvage event by loveyourclothes.org.uk LMB textile recycling warehouse, Canning Town, London

Invitations were sent to London-based fashion bloggers, industry and LCF students.  They were invited to visit the Britannia Mill in Canning Town, the largest textile recycling centre in London.  Guests such as Susie Lau of Style Bubble and Arianna Cadwallader (from C4’s This Old Thing: Vintage Clothes Show) were given an opportunity to explore the vast array of clothing received by the site in just one day and unearth garments which could be re-styled to create a new-season party look.

Everyone entered into the spirit of the occasion and the evening was a great success. Upcycling style expert Emma Slade of backofthewardrobe.com was on hand to offer advice and judge her pick of the outfits pulled on the night.  Barley Massey of Fabrications in Broadway Market brought her sewing machine along and was offering alterations and customisation of the pieces.

Attendees were able to take away their finds and give a home to pieces that were unwanted by others.  The outfits of the evening (chosen by Emma) were created by Lisa Snider, Mallory Giardino and Ilishio Lovejoy.

MARK HEYES LAUNCHES HIS FIRST COLLECTION FOR MARISOTA

“I’ve always had a passion for fashion. Whether it’s shopping for a shoot, styling celebs, or checking out the new trends at fashion week.  My favourite part of the job though has always been dressing women of every age, shape and size and showing them how incredible they can look.

When Marisota asked me to design a range for them I jumped at the chance.
It allowed me to create a collection of flattering fashions that make the season’s trends wearable, whilst mixing in wardrobe essentials that will
see you through year after year.

The Marisota team really know their stuff in terms of how to cut pieces to make the most of women’s figures and with their expertise and my fashion know-how, we have created a collection that I’m proud to put my name to.

The range, which is called Ava, features my take on clashing prints with a flattering peplum dress, a must have winter pink collarless coat and some great winter florals prints on tops,  dresses and jeans.  Each piece has been designed to make the most of the wearer’s figure and I hope that the Marisota customers will find that they can look fashionable and stylish whilst still wearing clothes that fit and flatter their shape.”

MARISOTA LAUNCHES NEW BRAND CONCEPT SHAPEOLOGY

At Marisota we celebrate the fact that women’s bodies are amazing by creating fashion that not only fits you but your lifestyle too – whether it’s a red carpet event or just picking up the kids from school. Welcome to the world of Shapeology – a new design breakthrough that combines cutting edge technology with high style and a host of new fitting techniques that help us look our very best no matter who, or where, we are. By listening to over 700 women across the UK our expert team has developed a number of creative solutions for some of our most common wardrobe dilemmas, particularly in problem areas such as the tummy and upper arms – the top two factors highlighted by our researchers.  As a result, we’ve incorporated even more strategic stretch and support that enhance your best bits while shaping your silhouette, no matter whether you’re a size 12 or a 34.

Secondly, over 65 percent of women polled wanted more advice on what best suits their body shape. In answer to this, Shapeology isn’t just about helping us achieve the perfect fit but educating our consumer into making the right wardrobe choices, whether you’re an apple, pear or curvy hourglass shape.  Additionally we’ve looked at making our wide selection more age appropriate as over half our customers felt they wanted more advice on what to wear, and when. Luckily super stylist Mark Heyes and celebrity designer Coleen Nolan are on hand, providing hands-on advice to women of all ages, both in their own collections for Marisota, and Mark in our extensive range of online video tutorials.

Lastly, Shapeology isn’t just a design element, but a state of mind that extends across our entire product range – from secret sculpting foundation garments to jeans that give you a perkier bum. And, thanks to feedback from loyal customers we’ve raised the fashion stakes too, with updated ranges that include a brand new trend lead collection entitled Edit, that doesn’t steer clear of catwalk trends  because you’re not a size 10.  Add to that a new brand image, new graphics and an exciting new season ahead, and you’ll see that Shapeology is much, much more than a few quick fixes, but the gorgeous shape of things to come.

DAVID EMANUEL

Bonmarche_bandeau_swimsuit_£18_model_960_1440

DAVID EMANUEL LAUNCHES HIS FIRST SWIMWEAR COLLECTION FOR BONMARCHE

Bonmarché is launching an exciting new range of swimwear, designed exclusively by Royal couturier David Emanuel.  The collection features monochrome swimwear with graphic prints including spots and snakeskin with metallic detailing, the perfect pieces to transform your beach wardrobe.

“I am over the moon I have been able to design a range of swimwear, it is something I’ve always wanted to do.  Many of the women I’ve met in Bonmarché stores up and down the country have asked me what they should wear when they’re away whether on a beach holiday or a luxurious cruise, as they want to feel comfortable and stylish but don’t want to reveal too much flesh.  I felt it was important that the collection include a variety of styles such as halter necks and swimdresses, including flattering tummy control, so there is something for everyone.  I’ve also stuck to a classic monochrome colour palette which is very on trend this summer and of course suits everyone,” comments David Emanuel.

With a variety of shapes to flatter every figure including bikinis and swimdresses in sophisticated prints, you will never look more elegant by the pool.  The one piece swimsuits include light tummy control to flatter your silhouette whilst remaining comfortable and the swimdress features waist-cinching detail to emphasise the narrowest part of your body, while the skirt skims over tummies.  Selected styles will also be available up to a size 32.

The collection will be available from http://www.bonmarche.co.uk from 14th July 2013.
