MIKIMOTO

BACKGROUND

SCPR was appointed to help launch the UK’s first Mikimoto store on Old Bond Street in London.  As Japan’s foremost luxury jeweller, founded in 1893, Kokichi Mikimoto is credited with creating the first cultured pearl and the founder of the cultured pearl industry .  The Mikimoto name became a symbol of Japanese culture and a rich association between Mikimoto and London society was forged with the opening of their first store on Bond Street, which was then followed by openings in Paris and New York.
To celebrate the opening and to underpin the exemplary pedigree of the Mikimoto brand, a launch party was hosted by Countess Jennifer Guerrini-Miraldi at Spencer House in St James.  A plethora of the London society and fashion cognoscenti were invited to a curated exhibition of Mikimoto’s most prized jewellery exhibits, displayed on static models in the Grand Ballroom.  In addition a photographic campaign shot by Lord Snowden and styled by Isabella Blow featured across all major glossy and luxury publications.
